Local UVic Students to Represent Canada at World University Games with RunSport Support
Two University of Victoria (UVic) students are set to compete on the international stage at the World University Games (FISU), thanks in part to the support of RunSport Victoria Society. Daniel Damian and Hayden Woodrow, both accomplished triathletes, will be representing Canada in Europe, with their journey made possible by RunSport’s sponsorship.
RunSport, widely recognized for organizing events like the annual TC10K, is expanding its impact by directly supporting young athletes in their athletic pursuits. This sponsorship underscores RunSport’s commitment to fostering local talent and helping athletes reach their potential on a global scale.
"The support we have received from RunSport Victoria has been incredible," said Hayden Woodrow. "Their generous contribution is a huge boost as we prepare for the World University Games. This support motivates us to train and prepare to the best of our abilities. We are truly grateful for RunSport's commitment to helping athletes achieve their goals."
Daniel Damian also expressed his gratitude, saying, "RunSport has helped us fund the trip over to Europe and compete with the best triathletes in the world. We are both very proud to represent UVic, Canada, and the community in Victoria."
As they prepare to compete, Damian and Woodrow carry the hopes of their university, their city, and their country. The support from RunSport Victoria Society not only enables these athletes to chase their dreams but also highlights the organization's dedication to nurturing the next generation of sporting talent.
The World University Games, known for being a proving ground for future Olympians, will see Damian and Woodrow test their skills against some of the best university athletes from around the world. Their participation is not just a personal achievement but also a reflection of the strength and potential of Victoria’s athletic community.
